Robert Hirsch

Biography


Dr. Robert Hirsch is a viral immunologist. He was born in Boston, and grew up in Framingham, MA. After graduating with a BA from Brandeis, he went to Georgetown University in DC for his PhD, and found his calling in immunology. During his career he studied the importance of many aspects of the immune system in recovery from viral infections. He also published important studies on the immunological abnormalities in multiple sclerosis patients. After his academic career at Johns Hopkins and the University of Maryland, he went on to help develop monoclonal antibodies and other immune modifiers. He worked on products for HIV, Respiratory Syncytial Virus, Cytomegalovirus, Influenza, other virus infections, and cancer patients. He has been an executive and board member at several biotechnology companies.
